Biggest achievement of Q2
recycled
We recovered and recycled most of our waste, keeping it out of landfill and giving it second life
90% International standard for zero waste operations
Moving Closer to Zero Waste
This quarter, we achieved an average 86% Waste Diversion Rate (WDR), recovering and recycling 28 tonnes of waste while sending only 4.8 tonnes to landfill. Across our community of 745 people, this translates to approximately 71 grams of residual waste per person per day over the quarter. We are now only 4 percentage points away from the internationally recognised 90% diversion rate for Zero Waste operations, meaning nearly 9 out of every 10 kilograms of waste generated across Nyanyi Bali is being recovered or recycled rather than sent to landfill.

Sustainability You Can Experience
Q2 also saw the official launch of the Nyanyi Eco Tour, opening our sustainability journey to the public. Visitors can now explore how waste, food, farming, and biodiversity are connected through real-life operations across our property.
Reducing Chemicals, Saving Costs
Our transition to Biowash continued to deliver both environmental and financial benefits. During Q2, we used 1,789 litres, avoiding an estimated IDR 107 million in chemical costs (based on an estimated market price of IDR 60,000 per litre).

Closing the Loop
Our composting programme produced 2,870 kg of compost, all of which was used across Nyanyi Bali’s landscapes and gardens. Besides returning nutrients to the soil, this replaced purchased compost and generated an estimated cost saving of IDR 2.8 million.
Giving Used Cooking Oil a Second Life
During Q2, we collected 1,293.61 litres of used cooking oil across all entities, generating IDR 6.97 million while preventing the oil from entering drains and waterways. PIB was our biggest contributor, collecting 292.53 litres during the quarter. Rather than becoming waste, the collected oil is recycled into biodiesel, a renewable fuel with a significantly lower environmental footprint than conventional diesel. It’s another example of how materials once considered waste can become valuable resources in a circular economy.

Our Cage-Free Commitment
In Q2, Nyanyi Bali officially joined the Cage-Free Eggs Indonesia commitment, pledging that by the end of 2027, all entities will source eggs exclusively from cage-free systems. To support this transition, we launched our own pilot farm with 105 laying hens. The first cage-free eggs are expected in August, marking the beginning of a more ethical and transparent food system within our operations.
Growing Biodiversity
Our Gembrong conservation programme from PIB continues to grow, with the population reaching 87 animals. This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting one of Bali’s native livestock breeds while integrating biodiversity into our sustainability journey.

Community
In collaboration with ProEd and Sungai Watch,
Nyanyi Bali organised a beach clean-up.

Sustainability Highlights

Beach Clean-Up
In partnership with ProEd and Sungai Watch, Nyanyi Bali organised a beach clean-up activity to help protect Nyanyi Bali’s coastline. Together, volunteers collected 494 kg of waste, preventing it from returning to the ocean while supporting a cleaner and healthier coastal environment.
Biowash Workshop
Nyanyi Bali launched its first BioWash Workshop in collaboration with Eco Enzyme Nusantara, introducing employees to environmentally friendly cleaning solutions. The workshop highlighted practical applications of BioWash in daily operations and will continue as a monthly sustainability initiative.

Sustainability Awareness
Sustainability education continued to grow across Nyanyi Bali through training for 64 employees and awareness sessions for students. Covering topics such as waste segregation, responsible resource use, and circular economy principles, these programmes help strengthen a culture where sustainability becomes part of everyday life.
New Facility
Teba Modern
Nyanyi Bali introduced Teba Modern, a new composting initiative inspired by the traditional Balinese teba, where organic materials naturally return to the earth. By composting organic waste closer to where it is generated, the initiative reduces transportation, lowers carbon emissions, and improves operational efficiency. Teba Modern also serves as an educational space, encouraging visitors to see that composting can be simple, natural, and easily adopted at home.

Cup Rinser
To improve recycling quality, Nyanyi Bali installed a Cup Rinser that allows visitors to rinse used cups before disposal. Leftover food and drink residue often contaminates recyclable materials, preventing them from being processed. This simple addition helps keep recyclable cups clean, increasing the amount of material that can be recovered instead of ending up in landfill.
Reusable Toggles
Nyanyi Bali has replaced single-use waste bag stickers with reusable colour-coded toggles to improve both recycling and operational efficiency. Without adhesive labels, plastic bags are easier to recycle, while the reusable toggles eliminate unnecessary waste. The initiative has also reduced labelling costs by 58%, demonstrating how small operational changes can deliver meaningful environmental and financial benefits.

Eco Champion

Wayan Adi
Pak Wayan Adi played a key role in implementing Nyanyi Bali’s new waste management SOP by supporting internal audits, training housekeeping teams, and conducting daily waste segregation inspections across offices and common areas. His consistent efforts helped improve waste segregation practices and contributed to achieving zero waste management non-compliance by the end of the quarter.
Yoga
Pak Yoga actively supports sustainability during student practical sessions by ensuring waste is properly segregated and coordinating additional training whenever needed. He also oversees the collection of used cooking oil for recycling, contributing to BCPS’s circular waste management efforts and ensuring waste is managed responsibly.

Ning & Chef Danu
Bu Ning and Chef Danu have led practical sustainability improvements within PIB. Chef Danu strengthened waste segregation by training the kitchen team and embedding good waste management practices into daily operations. Meanwhile, Bu Ning replaced the capsule coffee system with a conventional coffee machine, reducing single-use cup waste and encouraging the use of reusable cups throughout the café.
Rethinking Single-Use Bags

In April, we launched a campaign across our outlets to encourage guests to reduce the use of single-use bags. Through simple awareness messages and staff engagement, we invited guests to make more sustainable choices in their everyday purchases. The campaign reflects our belief that small behavioural changes, when repeated by many people, can create a meaningful environmental impact. By encouraging guests to choose reusable options whenever possible, we continue taking small but practical steps towards reducing single-use bags across Nyanyi Bali.
Video Awareness

Creating a sustainable culture goes beyond providing the right facilities, it also requires continuous reminders. As part of our new sustainability initiatives, we introduced a series of awareness videos displayed across key areas of the property.
The videos share simple messages on waste segregation, recycling, and responsible waste management, helping employees, students, and visitors understand how small daily actions contribute to a larger environmental impact.
By making sustainability messages visible in everyday spaces, we hope to encourage positive habits and make responsible waste management part of daily life.
Sustainability Learning Centre

Designed as a waste recovery and learning hub, the SLC brings together the systems we’ve been building across Nyanyi Bali into one living ecosystem. From cage-free eggs and organic gardens to composting and waste recovery, every element is connected to show how resources can stay in use instead of becoming waste. Our vision is simple: create a circular system where materials are recovered, nutrients return to the soil, and as little waste as possible ends up in landfill. More importantly, we want people to experience this journey firsthand. Rather than reading about sustainability, visitors can walk through it, understand how each system supports the next, and discover that circular living is not a concept, it’s something that can happen every day.
Introduction: [re]project
The [re]project is how we turn our ESG commitments into everyday action: looking after People, Planet, and Governance through three simple areas:

People & Community
Creating positive social impact through education, collaboration, meaningful partnerships, and stronger communities.

Environment
Giving back to nature by reducing our impact, protecting biodiversity, restoring ecosystems, and making better use of resources.

Governance
Bringing sustainability into the way we make decisions, manage our business, and work together, so responsible practices become part of everyday culture, not just policy.
